What we collect
When you request an estimate we collect your name, email, phone number, preferred contact method, vehicle details (year, make, model, trim, engine, mileage, and VIN if you provide it), the repairs you select, your description of the problem, and any photos you upload. We also record the date and time of your request and a one-way hashed form of your network address to prevent abuse.
How we use it
- To review your request, prepare an estimate, and contact you about it by the method you choose.
- To keep records of estimates, authorizations, invoices, and disclosures as required for an automotive repair business.
- We do not use your information for marketing unless you separately opt in, and we do not sell or share your personal information.
Service providers
We use service providers to host this website and database, send email and text notifications to our staff, and keep internal operational spreadsheets. They process information only on our behalf. If you enter a VIN, it may be sent to the U.S. Department of Transportation's public vehicle-decoding service to look up vehicle details.
Retention
Repair records are kept for at least 3 years, or longer when required by law. Photos you upload with a request are kept for up to 365 days unless they become part of a repair record.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information (subject to records we must keep by law) by contacting Kern Auto Works.
Security
Access to customer records is limited to authorized staff with individual logins. Records are never publicly accessible.
